Pretty Saree

May 21, 2008

I’m so fascinated by India jewelries and Saree lately. Been collecting cute colorful fashion jewelries and about 10 days ago I ordered embroidered Saree online. It arrived today, the package is not as heavy as I thought, which is good. But I was disappointed a bit soon as I opened the package, the color is way off than it’s photo. And there’s no pink in it at all as shown in the photo, just red, yellow and green. Also the color in photo is so much brighter, where the actual fabric is muted. It’s a beautiful thing still, and lately I’ve been learning to let go, and focus on the bright sides instead, it makes my life happier. So… Good things: I still save a lot of money by buying direct from India, they shipped it fast, and I got free stiching service for the top, they give me cute package of bindhi (forehead jewels), and plus, they include a DVD on how to wear the saree. I mastered the skill within 2 minutes after watching the DVD, so proud of myself! ^__^

My Saree

About a year ago, my friend , Raggy Adam from DeviantArt.com asked me if he could use one of my stock photo for a book cover tender. Of course I said yes. I would love to be in a book cover! Yes yes yes! :D So after a few months, I found out from him that the image was accepted. Yay! Oh, the book title is: Dyah Pitaloka, Korban Ambisi Politik Gajahmada. Yeah, it’s in Indonesian. Sorry, English speaking people!

Back in January ‘08 I went to Indonesia. I found the book in one of the biggest book store in Jakarta! Wow! I bought several, to give to my family and friends, hee hee.. It’s not everyday I become a book cover model you know. The book is still not googleable and its kinda annoying, so I decided to put it in my blog. Oh it will be googleable soon, my friend! You’ll see! ^__^

Miss Cutie McFlirty

April 27, 2008

You might not understand this if you are not a beadmaker, or if you’re a normal person. :) I get too attached to my beads sometimes. I named them according to their personalities. I made this pink turtle bead which is my most fave, using my favorite glass Messy Pink, I named her ‘Cutie McFlirty’. Cause she is super cute! :)

Cutie McFlirty - One of my Fave Bead

Cutie is one of the biggest bead I ever made, she’s a chubster. I was so excited to see how she turned out. I guess I was mesmerized by her big blue eyes, I forgot to keep her warm while decorating her body. So she cracked during finishing touches, gave me a minor heart attack. I remember screaming the ’s’ word, which I dont really do by the way :) I was devastated. I spent about half an hour on her, damn it! Anyway, pulled myself together, I heat her up again, she is in 1 piece, but not sellable. I was going to keep her anyway. Update: Cutie lives with my cousin now, to prove that I can part with my favorite beads. :(

The Goddesses Project

October 31, 2007

Long long time ago before I make my own beads, I have this little project in mind. Due to many many oh so many reasons that I wont get into, this project was neglected. Recently I decided to finish it and I’m very happy with the result.

So, my plan was to make a piece of jewelry using variety of lampwork beads that I collected from some of the many beadmakers I admire. I emailed each one of them with the same request, which is to make me 3 beads in their signature style. I pick the rod colors, which is white, clear, clear pink and variety of pink. I also set the size of beads to be around 11 to 13mm, with expectation that some will be off by 1 or 2 mm, which is okay.

Anyway, I found out that its also impossible, at least for me, to make just 1 jewelry out of these beads. I ended up with a few pieces. Everything’s done, except for the bracelet. I call this line ‘Goddesses’. To see the list of beadmakers, click on the image. Thank you for reading! :D
